Ireland 1-0 Cyprus (Keane)
Getting 3 points was the main objective in this game. There were some positives and some very good performances (Doyler, Dunne, Duff and McGeady-1st half) So happy to have Duff back in the fold.
Was at the game and the atmosphere was great at the start and when we got the goal the place went bananas but it quietened down a lot after that, especially in the 2nd half, which was a shame.
Thought we needed someone in the middle to hold onto the ball and pass it around. Whelan and Gibson were too inexperienced and it showed. We needed Andy Reid in there imo or at least thrown on as a sub.
Just goes to show how important Stephen Reid is as well and Stevie Ireland (if the lad ever comes back)
Andy Reid not getting his game is a worry and Im beginning to think he might walk away, which would be a disaster.
Gibson is pretty much 9th choice at United so Im guessing Reid is p1ssed off.
Anyways, the game was won thanks to a great run from Duff to set Robbie up with an easy finish.
I have to say Im happy enough, even though it wasnt the best football we ever played.
Bulgaria losing is a huge bonus for us as we are now 4 points ahead of them in 3rd.
We are going to SA boys Viva Trappers.
Dunne=Collosus.

If Given and Dunne and Sheasy in front of him then Ireland will always have a chance in winning every football match. Dunne is vastly underrated IMO, the only thing the backline lacks is pace.
Great to have Duff back as I dont really rate Hunt. Centre midfield is a huge issue though. Needs to be fixed quickly. I cant imagine how Reid feels when everyone keeps getting picked ahead of him when for me he'd be first choice.
