Kevin Keegan, Liverpool player in the 70s. Older United fans will tell you he was rubbish, only looked good because John Toshack, his strike-partner made him look good. There are clips on Youtube with him, "100 Players That Shook the Kop" and "100 Days that Shook the Kop" if you're interested in Pile's history.

I'm not old enough to know which one is better then so if would be great if you guys would give me a comparison on them. Well as i am one of the oldies and one of the fortunate ones to have watched both Best and Keegan play, let me tell you about them and that era. Best joined Utd on the summer of 63. A young kid, must have been somewhere around 18, he was incredible with his skills. He could run away from defenders in the blink of an eye and was superb with both his legs. Best joined Utd as i said in year 63 and that era was the best footballing era for me. Cos there was respect among clubs in the midst of intense rivalry. Utd had players like Bobby Charlton, Denis Law, Pat Crerand & George Best. Bobby Charlton was at the peak of his form during the mid 60's. Law was amazing during the mid 60's but because of a bad knee couldnt play much during the 67-68 season and after that he declined a little bit. The team could be described in only word amazing but there was also another manager Bill Shankly who took his team to new heights to compete against Utd. Once i watched a United match wearing a Liverpool scarf from the North stand and there were people who asked me about Shanks and the team. I even had a few pints in the nearby pub with the Utd supporters. You must be wondering why i would watch United play. It was simple i fell in love with a girl who stayed in Manchester and supported Utd. So our dates sometimes used to be in Old Trafford. The kevin Keegan era was very different. Football supporters were not the same anymore. There was hatred and only hatred. People killed and stabbed for football. Sad! However, Keegan playing for Liverpool during the 70's and made it the best team in Europe. Kevin and John Toshack made one of the best forward partnerships, Europe has ever seen. Liverpool during the 70's won everything under the sky including Europe.I could go on talking about the Bob Paisley era but as it is a United website i will let it pass.

Shame that football has gone to the direction of violence, mate. Thinking as a neutral, would you say that the Best era is more entertaining than the Keegan era?

To compare Keegan and Best is like trying to compare Beckham and Ronaldo.
IMO if Keegan hadn't had Toshack he wold have been quite an ordinary player, yes he had pace and he had some skill on the ball, but he was never the same player at Bayern because he had no-one to play off, he had to work more, it did him good becaus ehe became more complete a player.
George was on the other hand the complete player, he could pass, dribble cross and very importantly tackle, he could hold off 3 or 4 players and still go through them, and score
Denis Law spoke once of him and said
"When George got the ball we just stood and watched you never knew what he would do, he was mesmerising, I remember one time running with him calling for the ball, he beat one player, i called again George!! he beast another, for fucks sake george pass it, he beat another, George for fucks sake you cant win on your ownpass it you irish git, he beat another, christ sake goerge, he beat another, we are now in the area , i belowed out pass it George you bas......................... Oh brilliant goal George."
Keegan nor any other pile player did that now or then
